Library Training
If you are unable to visit the library for training, we can arrange an online session via Microsoft Teams. These sessions can be tailored to your individual needs, so please let us know what you would like to cover.
Please note that we are unable to provide direct advice on university assignments or assessed work. However, we can demonstrate how to search for information effectively and make the best use of our library resources.

Finding Evidence Fast
30-minute session (with an optional additional 30 minutes for practice)
Finding Evidence Fast is a short online session introducing the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub and how it can help you find journal articles and other evidence quickly.
The session covers:
• Accessing the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub
• Running basic and natural language searches
• Using filters to refine search results
• Saving useful resources
• Accessing or requesting full-text articles
• Understanding when to use the Hub and when other library services, such as expert searches or document supply, may be more appropriate
Dates:
• 1 October, 3:30pm to 4:00pm
• 4 November, 2:00pm to 2:30pm
• 1 December, 10:00am to 10:30am
Referencing
1-hour session
This session is designed to help you understand what referencing is, why it is important in academic work, and how it can help you avoid plagiarism.
The course introduces the Harvard referencing style and explains how to use in-text citations and reference lists correctly. You will learn the key principles of Harvard referencing for different types of resources and have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the session.
By the end of the course, you should feel more confident:
• Recognising when references are needed
• Understanding how referencing helps avoid plagiarism
• Creating basic Harvard references
• Using in-text citations and reference lists correctly
