Training

Training

  • One-to-one sessions

If you need help with using any of the library’s resources then we are happy to offer one-to-one sessions. We will tailor the session to your individual need so please let us know what you would like to cover and how much experience you already have with searching (if any!).

Please note that if you are a student completing research for a university project then we cannot help with your actual project but we are able to show you how best to search our various resources.

We are also able to attend departmental meetings/study days in order to introduce our resources to your team.

  • E-learning

These modules are designed to help the healthcare workforce (clinical and non-clinical) build confidence to search published literature for articles and evidence relevant to their work, study and research. The modules are short (each taking no more than 20 minutes to complete). There are seven modules suitable for novice searchers and those wishing to refresh their knowledge:

    1. Introduction to searching
    2. Where do I start searching?
    3. How do I start to develop a search strategy
    4. Too many results? How to narrow your search
    5. Too few results? How to broaden your search
    6. Searching with subject headings
    7. Searching the NHS Knowledge and Library Hub and bibliographic databases

Please disregard the information in the e-learning about OpenAthens. TSDFT staff and students should use their Trust login credentials (the same username and password used for Trust computers and the Hive) to access library resources.
