Latest Evidence
- Evidence Updates
What is it: a service to let you know, via email, whenever we find high-impact publications in your subject area.
Why use it: to see the latest high-level evidence in your field.
How it works: we tailor your Evidence Updates profile to suit your needs. For example, you could receive everything published on obstetrics or limit down to just receive things related to gestational diabetes. You will receive an email every 2 weeks with the latest updates.
The content: current policy documents, research articles, the latest summarised evidence and more.
There is little time in the NHS to keep up to date with research and this is a way that I am enabled to do so. I think it is a very useful service.

- Request an evidence search
What is an evidence search?
Our skilled and expert library team can save you time by searching the literature on your behalf to identify relevant, up-to-date, high quality evidence.
Whether you need evidence to support patient care, service improvement, research, guideline development, audit or clinical teaching, or if you want to find the latest material on a topic of interest, we’re more than happy to help.
When can you expect the results?
The scope of each evidence search can vary, as can the team’s workload, so we don’t work to exact timeframes, but we usually need a minimum of 2 weeks’ notice for completion of searches. However, if your search is urgent and for the care of an individual patient please let us know on the request form below or phone us on 01803 656700 and we will complete it as soon as possible.
- Just published - latest journal issues
BrowZine allows you to browse and access all journals that are instantly available to you via library subscriptions. The bookshelf section of BrowZine allows you to group and organise your must-read journals. This makes keeping up-to-date with your favourite journals much easier as you don’t have to search for them every time that you want to read them. You can also receive notifications when new issues have been published and are available to access.
To use the bookshelf feature you will need to create an account on the BrowZine website (or log in if you already have a BrowZine account). Once logged in search for a journal that you like to keep up-to-date with. Select the required journal from the search results list and then click the “Add to my Bookshelf” button (usually located on the left-hand side of the page). Continue this process for all journals that you would like to add to your bookshelf.
To access your bookshelf at any time log in to BrowZine and select the ‘My Bookshelf’ option from the menu (log in if prompted). You can rename each of your four virtual bookcases. You can also rename each shelf in order to aid organisation. Drag and drop journals to rearrange or hover over a journal cover and click the menu icon that appears for available options.
Red dots on a journal indicate that there are new articles to read. The number in the dot shows how many articles have not been read.
You can be sent email notifications when new articles are available to read. When logged in click the cog icon in the menu bar. In the BrowZine account section pick how often you’d like to receive notifications. You can also turn email notifications off.
BrowZine is also available as an app. Download it for free from your device’s app store.
