Nursing and Midwifery Council

NMC Code states that nurses and midwives must:

  • Undertake 35 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) of which 20 hours must be participatory *
  • Five pieces of practice-related feedback
  • Five written reflective accounts *
  • 450 practice hours, or 900 hours if renewing two registrations (for example, as both a nurse and midwife)
  • Health and character declaration
  • Professional indemnity arrangement
  • Reflective discussion
  • Confirmation

When you receive your revalidation notification, note that the date provided is the deadline by which it must be completed. Be sure to submit your revalidation at the start of the month to ensure it is processed by the deadline.

Your revalidation application is due on the first day of the month in which your registration expires. For example, if your renewal date is 30 April, your revalidation application due date will be 1 April.
